today in the life of the koks
Lauren loves "helping" me make dinner. Tonight I had grated a bunch of cheese. I was working on dinner and she kept saying, "Mmm, this is yummy cheese". I just assumed she was eating the shredded cheese. When I looked I saw this! I was dying laughing. She had just been taking huge bites out of the actual block of cheese!
The little mouse...or more like rat tonight!
Today was pajama day at Toddler Group. Lauren thought it was pretty cool to finally be able to wear her jams out of the house! That was about the only thing she thought was cool today... she wasn't at her best today!

Benny & I enjoyed our jammie time. I of course assumed all the moms were wearing their pj's too. I was one of the only ones in "real" pj's but that's okay. It was fun!
Lauren spent a lot of her time like this today. She would grab something from another kid and then run out to the door and stand there holding on to it for dear life. She also got in a full on slapping fight twice with the same little boy today. They have quite the love hate relationship and while it drives me crazy, it is also a little bit entertaining. I told his mom they'll probably get married:)
I couldn't resist catching this one! I need to change the setting on my videos so they aren't so grainy, but you get the idea of what she's doing! I think Lauren might be a future member of La Leche.
Ben was hanging out in a white onsie so Lauren decided she had to match him.
She kept saying, "We are twins".
They are getting close to the same size!
Poor Benny, he had a fever of 102 all day but he was still a happy little guy. No fever this morning though- yahoo!

For how much she loves her clothes, she sure likes to be naked a lot!
Since Kevin is about to leave for 10 days (but who's counting) he's been spending a little extra time with us this week. We bundled the kids up and headed out for a walk to Starbucks.
The sun was shining but it was still pretty chilly.

She's already practicing her coping techniques for when Dad is gone. We're gonna miss you tons Kev, but hope you have a great time! 
Ben decided to skip crawling and walking and just go straight to running! He's advanced, what can we say? 
Poor Lauren woke up yesterday with a 101.7 fever.
A few minutes after we took her temperature she threw up all over our bed! Luckily Daddy was still home to clean it up:) Thanks Kev!
We still managed to get a few smiles out of her. She's definitely not herself though. Poor baby.She gets so excited to play with him but isn't always the nicest or the most gentle playmate:) I love watching them "play" together though, it is really cute to see!
Yesterday Ben discovered how fun his new toy can be! It blows out air and his hair was blowing around. Lauren said, "Oh no, it's windy" and ran out of the room.
She returned with a winter hat for him.
He looked so cute in it! Lauren was really proud, I think she's happy that she has someone to dress up and play with.

Then she decided to play a fun game she called "Rockin and Rollin" with him. He sort of liked it... i'll post a video. 
Kevin decided to spend the 3 day weekend painting our downstairs.
It's a huge job, but he's getting it done:)
So far I love it! I can't wait to see the finished product. I'll post more later.
Ben is growing up so fast! He loves swinging in the swing in our play room and looks like such a big boy in it!
And he can sit up all by himself and play now. Before we know it he's going to be chasing Lauren around the house! (She can't wait, she asked me the other day if Benny was almost big enough to play with her.)
I went through Lauren's clothes and got rid of everything I didn't like so she wouldn't be able to wear her horrible outfits anymore. I saved a few items from when she was a baby that were personalized that I thought would be fun for her to have when she's older. Well...she found them and put them on! These pants are part of the scrubs that Aunt Megan got her when she was born, they are size 6-9 months.
This onsie the Murphy's made for her when she was born, it is size 0-3 months! It's amazing how stretchy cotton can be!
I was dying laughing. She wore this all day! When we went shopping I made her change but as soon as we walked in the door, she headed straight to her room, stripped down, and put it back on. She's a weirdo! 
We went to Kevin's cousin's wedding this weekend and Lauren thought it was pretty exciting. She got a few treats at the ceremony to get her through:)
Her favorite part by far was the dancing. She danced a lot and loved the disco ball.

Mr. Content. He wasn't as into the wedding as his sis but he was a very good boy.
Lauren got in the middle of the dance circle and was beaming! But then she got a little nervous and ran back out.

I have had this shirt hanging in Ben's room as a decoration and Lauren has been dying to wear it. I always tell her no but for some reason I caved tonight and she was in heaven! I had to go looking for a picture of me wearing it when I was a little girl and I found one! It's old and grainy, but you get the idea.
It used to be a yellow shirt, now it is cream. I must have worn it a lot! Fun to see us both in it. As I was looking through my baby book tonight I realized that Lauren & I look a lot more alike than I ever realized. Kevin & I were laughing pretty hard at some of the similarities. Someday I'll scan more.
So Lauren has been into picking out her clothes and dressing herself for quite awhile now. We've been working on helping her "match". She is now obsessed with putting colors together. She wore this outfit (above) to Ben's 6 month appt. She HAD to bring her pink binkie with her because there are pink feet painted on the scale at the doctors and the binkie would match it... logical, I guess...
She has also really been wanting to wear dresses lately but didn't really have any. She got a gift card to Target for Christmas so we went today and she got 3 new dresses with it. She was in heaven. We actually had so much fun shopping for them too. I've always enjoyed her, but I'm really starting to see just how much fun it is to have a daughter! Shopping and talking weddings, I'm in heaven:)
